Big Wild (+ Biig Piig ) — 09/16

September 16, 2022 — On the evening of Friday, September 16th, the stage was graced by the captivating performances of Big Wild and Biig Piig, leaving a lasting impression that I'll cherish.

The night kicked off with the talented alt hip-hop artist, Biig Piig, who immediately seized the audience's attention with their opening song "Roses and Gold." The fusion of chill and high-energy vibes drew in even those who had just arrived. Jessica Smyth, the lead singer, exuded boundless energy as she leaped across the stage throughout their set. Her infectious enthusiasm was impossible to resist, and as I navigated through the photo pit, I couldn't help but groove to their tunes. Despite a spectator spotting an untied shoelace, Smyth’s relentless stage presence persisted, and her performance radiated excitement and wonder that infected the entire crowd. Many attendees, despite being new to Biig Piig's music, expressed their newfound appreciation for the band's groovy basslines, solid drum beats, and Smyth’s velvety vocals, combined with their youthful lyrics. It was clear why people became instant fans. Biig Piig's performance left me feeling empowered long after they left the stage.

As the crew prepared for Big Wild's performance, an electric sense of anticipation filled the venue. The guitarist, Tracy Lambertucci, initiated the set with a brief but enchanting acoustic solo. In the dimly lit hall, with only a spotlight on her, she appeared regal, seated on stage with her guitar. The room plunged into darkness, and a hush fell over the audience, creating a moment of suspense before Jackson Stell, known as Big Wild, emerged on stage amid a flurry of dazzling lights. Big Wild's ethereal melodies, impeccable lighting, and his soft yet resonant vocals had me feeling as though I were floating. Glancing around, I could see that I wasn't alone in this sensation. Their music blended elements of disco, 90s rock, and alternative indie into a unique and mesmerizing sound that Big Wild executed flawlessly. There was something about their performance that simultaneously lifted your spirits and grounded you in the moment. I consider myself fortunate to have experienced Big Wild's live show.
