Cannons — 09/09
September 09, 2023 — The indie-pop sensation known as Cannons delivered an electrifying performance this past Saturday night at Terminal 5, captivating a sold-out audience. Comprised of the talented trio: Michelle Joy on vocals, Ryan Clapham as the lead guitarist, and Paul Davis on keys, Cannons effortlessly infused ethereal and sensational melodies into the night's atmosphere. Not even a heavy downpour could dampen the spirits of their devoted fans, who showered the band with unwavering adoration.
As the lights dimmed, indicating the start of Cannons’ set, the echo of cheers and whistles from the crowd ringed in my ears. Listening to Cannons' music, one couldn't help but fall under the spell of their hypnotic vocals and deep basslines. Looking into the crowd, it was evident that I wasn’t alone in experiencing this enchantment.
Throughout most of their performance, the lighting remained subdued, with the primary illumination coming from a massive screen behind the band, which elegantly accentuated their silhouettes. This play of light and shadow fostered an intimate ambiance that allowed you to simply close your eyes and immerse yourself in the music. With their masterful manipulation of lighting and shadows, combined with their uniquely comforting soundscapes, Cannons succeeded in transporting the entire Terminal 5 audience to a state of cloud nine, forging a collective experience that will be cherished.
